Important information with regards to buying foreign exchange
Travelers going to all countries are allowed to purchase foreign currency notes up to "USD 3,000 per visit" or "it’s equivalent" per person per passport. The balance amount can be carried in the form of Travel Cards.
Travel Card is a pre-paid foreign currency card that makes your foreign trip totally hassle-free and convenient. You can load this pre-paid card with foreign currencies in India by paying in INR amount
Documents required:
- Passport /Aadhaar copy with self-attestation (front & last page)
- Visa (except, if travelling to country which have Visa on Arrival)
- Valid Air Ticket
- PAN Card copy (self attested)
Note: As per RBI guidelines, the upper limit for any cash transaction is ₹ 50,000.
For higher amounts payment can be done or received using, Bank Transfer, Demand drafts or Cheque*.
*Cheque payments are subject to realization for release of forex
